… This post was supposed to come out last night so just pretend you saw it last night *smile*
As the first day of Kwanzaa comes to a close, I can’t let it pass without acknowledgement. I am on vacation with my family. As we have come from three households to celebrate each other and the holidays. New ideas around unity and community and communal living are surfacing for me.
We went to see The Color Purple this evening and it was magnificent; not my word but the apt word that my cousin used to describe this masterpiece. I will be writing more about the musical and the feelings that are coming up from sharing space, time, and proximity, in sharing joy and grief in a way that we have not done before.
But for tonight I will leave you with this. The Color Purple is EVERYTHING we didn’t know we needed, please go see it. I leave you with a photo of my family and I at the theatre.
I also leave you with a question. What is your “Unity” goal for your next trip around the Sun? What communities do you want to support and who do you want to divest from in other to unify in other places?
